A Message from your Parish Councils
Tom Ireland, Chair of Keinton Mandeville Parish Council :
“Keinton Mandeville Parish Council is pleased to support this partnership working initiative ‘Solar Streets’. Its aims fully fit with our environmental action plan for Keinton Mandeville.”
David Pye, Chair of Barton Saint David Parish Council:
“Barton Saint David Parish Council is very pleased to be able to inform our residents about this splendid offer. Residents can help in reducing the effects of climate change as well as saving money, a great combination.”
Adrian Wotton, Chair of Baltonsborough Parish Council: “Baltonsborough is committed to promoting and developing sustainable energy; Solar Streets fits perfectly with our ambitions, and we are therefore pleased to bring this potential partnership to the attention of all our residents.”
Savannah Alalia, Chair of Butleigh Parish Council:
“Butleigh Parish Council is encouraged by this community approach to providing renewable energy. It provides green funding to the parish and is a win win for householders and the environment too.”
Robert Bartlett, Chair of Lydford On Fosse Parish Council:
“We fully support the ‘Solar Streets’ project and hope that the community at large takes the opportunity to assess this offer and think about how we can all aid in the battle to reduce our carbon footprint and how we can generate our own renewable energy. This will not only benefit individuals but it will help to reduce Lydford On Fosse’s carbon footprint. £50 per installation will be donated to a local renewable energy project within our parish.”
What’s the Deal?
What is available in the Scheme?
The Standard Offering is a 4kWp system including installation. However, you may need a smaller or larger system, and these are both offered with the same percentage discount as the Standard Offering. You may also wish to take advantage of optional extras (see below).
The Technical Survey will also highlight any potential issues we need to take into consideration, like a problem roof or difficult access to your property, and these may change the price of the installation. However, all of these options will be explained to you after the Technical Survey when we know more about your property and your electricity useage. You will be given a quotation for whatever system you think is right for you, and everything will be priced clearly with no hard sell.
Solar PV Panels
The standard offering now features black 340Wp panels from reputable experienced manufacturers of solar panels Jinko and JA Solar who are two of the biggest suppliers in the world
A standard 4kWp, 12 panel system saves 1T of carbon dioxide per year (Dec 2020) according to the Energy Saving Trust (energysavingtrust.org.uk)
The Community Fund
IDDEA add £50 per residential installation and £100 for a commercial installation into the Community Fund
Brue Valley’s Community Fund will be spent on green projects to benefit Brue Valley
Battery Storage Systems
If you are going to need to use your Solar PV output in the evening then you will need a battery to store the energy during the day for use later.
use this neat little add-on device, which attaches to your water tank, to heat your water with your solar energy – please note: you need a water tank, this doesn’t work on combi-boilers
Electric Vehicle Charging Points
we can easily put in a charging point for your electric vehicle at the same time
You must decide how to fund the panels yourself – there are the usual funding avenues for you to explore, but as you are in the South West of England, then Lendology work with local Councils to provide loans to householders.
South West of England
If you need a loan to finance your panels then Lendology will offer you advice and a quotation if your project matches their lending criteria. https://www.lendology.org.uk/
“Lendology CIC is a unique lender, working with homeowners to fund home improvements. Based on the outskirts of Taunton, our team works across the South West providing a variety of loan schemes in partnership with local district councils. As a not-for-profit organisation, using the Council partner funding, we are able to provide homeowners access to financial support to help with the cost of repairs.”
Please note: Lendology has no connection with Solar Streets, The Green Group (UK) Ltd or IDDEA Ltd. We are not offering financial advice – if you choose to speak to Lendology about a loan then that is your own choice and they will explain all the financial consequences to you.
For all the options below please remember to let us know you are part of Brue Valley Solar Streets so we can apply your discount.
Also, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £5,000 towards your Business Project from Low Carbon Workspaces – they are completely independent of Solar Streets – check them out here: www.lowcarbonworkspaces.co.uk
for businesses who don’t have enough roof space or just want extra solar electricity, you can add solar canopies to your car park space – you can still use it as a car park but the panels sit on a canopy above the cars on a secure steel structure – ask us at Info@IDDEA.co.uk
if you use a lot of electricity in your business and have a large roof on your workspace then ask us about a commercial installation and see how you can save on your electricity bill – ask us at Info@IDDEA.co.uk
if your business doesn’t have the funds to hand for the installation but you still want to use Green Electricity then ask us about a Power Purchase Agreement where you do not have any upfront cost but you can still save money on the per unit rate you pay for your electricity – please note, a PPA usually runs for 10 to 25 years so it is not a short-term option, but can be a great option if you own your building or have a very long lease – ask us at Info@IDDEA.co.uk
This is a particularly good option for SCHOOLS and COLLEGES that have the roof space and the electricity demand but don’t have the immediate funds, because you will usually either own the building or be staying in the same building for a long time. All the upfront costs of installing and maintaining the panels are paid for – you can then save money on your electricity bills by paying a lower per unit rate for your electricity secure in the knowledge that you are also reducing your carbon footprint. This is a great teaching point for your students also.
To find out more information on the Scheme then click on the green boxes below.
Please note: if you are hard of hearing or find it difficult to watch the videos then we have written transcripts available for all of them – just ask us for them on Info@SolarStreets.co.uk
How Do I Get the Deal?
If you want Solar Panels installed then you can simply contact IDDEA directly through Info@IDDEA.co.uk – they will first conduct a desktop survey of your property making sure it is suitable for solar panels and they will then arrange a free, no obligation physical survey on your property (all social distancing guidelines will be followed). If you want any added extras they will explain them all to you clearly and with transparant prices – there will be no hard sell.
Thinking of Changing Supplier?
We looked for a renewable energy supplier who wanted to support Solar Streets by contributing to the Community Fund whenever anyone switched to them. Octopus were the only company who were interested in helping this community scheme.
Please note, you do not have to change supplier to get the Solar Streets deal.
However, if you wish to find out about the energy deal with Octopus Energy then click the Octopus Picture below – this does not commit you to anything, it will only give you a quote. You then need to decide for yourself whether you want to switch supplier or not, and may wish to find out about other green energy companies before you decide – they all have different tarifs and different benefits.
If you do switch to Octopus you will receive £50 from Octopus and the Brue Valley Community Fund will also receive £50. You do not have to wait for your panels to be installed before you switch; in fact you do not even have to have panels installed – you can use this link to switch to Octopus energy at any time and they will still contribute to the community fund.
Please note: neither IDDEA nor The Green Group receives any money or commission from Octopus Energy for this deal – you get £50 and the Community Fund gets £50 – that’s it!
